Pls. 66 and 67 (Red figured) Sujet d'un Vase de la forme No. 3 Sujet d'un Vase de la meme forme The top representation depicts a dancing scene (bacchanal) with five individuals- a comely maiden playing a double-pipe flute, flanked by dancing males, from the left, a bearded crowned diety holding a torch, to his right, a clean shaven youth also crowned. The maiden faces another bearded and crowned individual holding an unidentifiable object. The fifth youth dangles this object from his right hand. A bust of the youth is superimposed above. The lower scene exibits a seated elderly diety covered in scales or feathers, extending his right hand in which he holds a wreath, his left holding a elaborate staff. The maiden bending over in front of him, holds forth a paten. Both individuals with elaborate detailing throughout. Enclosed in an ornate acanthus border and stylized waves. |

| Tom I. PLs. 36 and 37. (Red figured) Figures d'un Vase de la meme forme Top- A wonderful processional with four wreathed males-two carrying staffs, another carrying a harp. The figure at the extreme right is bearded. Bottem- Three figures in combat- to the right a centaur, with leopard skin draped over his back, he grabs his adversary's left bicep. In his right hand he wields a barbed limb. The central warrior is bearded wearing a Corinthian helmet. He grasps an inverted spear in his right hand, his left wields his decorated shield. The diety behind the warrior is probably Apollo, who clutches a spear and is wearing a flat hat. Scene is enclosed within a ornate border. Recommended! |

A pair of late 18th- early Ninetheenth Century Female Heads. Red and Black Figure coloration facing right and left, respectively. Squared motifs with ornate headresses and wreathed black and white borders. 51/4" squares. Very nice! |
